December Dances

December 12 at 7 pm
December 13 at 3 pm

Tickets $10
$7.50 students & seniors

Under the direction of Keith Lee, Dance Theatre of Lynchburg presents December Dances, a dance concert created to welcome the winter season with contrasts of darkness and illumination. "Ruckertlieder," an austere choreography set to Mahler's world-weary score is accompanied by concert pianist, Naomi Amos and mezzo-soprano, Barbara Webb. Guest artists from the Charlottesville Ballet perform "Us," a duet commissioned by American Ballet Theatre in 1970. "Partita de Paradise," inspired by the French poet, writer, artist and film maker, Jean Cocteau, sets a surrealistic dreamscape enriched by Cocteau's attachments to Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. And "Fanfare, Freedom and Fireworks," an urban impression of Tchaikovsky's celebrated overture, lights up the stage.

Dance Theatre of Lynchburg presents December Dances at Thoresen Theatre, Randolph College, on December 12th at 7 pm and December 13th at 3 pm. Tickets, $10.00 / $7.50 students and seniors, are available at Dance Theatre of Lynchburg and online at lynchburgtickets.com.

Students currently enrolled in classes at Dance Theatre of Lynchburg will receive one free ticket for Saturday or Sunday when accompanied by an adult.
