CURRICULUM
Dance Foundations. An introduction to dance which provides a creative and technically sound foundation, setting the stage for future artistic development. Students gain a sense of confidence while learning musicality, technique, composition and classroom etiquette.
Ballet. Following American Ballet TheatreÕs National Training Curriculum, American ballet borrows from the best of Bournville, Cecchetti, and Vaganova styles to create a unique ballet form emphasizing placement, strength and flexibility. Ballet serves as the foundation for all forms of dance education.
Pointe. The classic finale technique for female dancers. Available to division three and four students at the discretion of the instructor.
Modern Dance. Focusing upon Graham, Horton, Ailey, and Limon styles, students learn the founding principles of modern dance technique, including contraction and release, fall and recovery. Class Format: floor exercises, center exercises, small jumps, movement combinations.
Body Conditioning. Strength training which focuses on core stability while providing a full-body workout. Emphasis is placed on breath, alignment, control and form. Stottª Pilates mat-work is complimented with kettlebell standing exercises.
Hip Hop. A popular dance style born of the street, yet with classes which follow a structured technique in the concert dance tradition.
Tap. A technique of foot rhythms and syncopations which uses the body as a percussive instrument.
