Dance Theatre of Lynchburg's course offerings are grouped below by age division. Each student's schedule is personalized, in consultation with the artistic director, to suit his/her individual needs. Placement is required for students ages 10 and older.

** Ballet-B class is designed for beginning ballet students ages 10 and older.

*Students must be enrolled in two or more ballet classes and be pre-approved by the artistic director before enrolling in pointe classes.

The Schedule of Classes is subject to change based upon enrollment. Private instruction may be available upon request.

ENROLLMENT

ENROLLMENT. To enroll in Dance Theatre of Lynchburg's 2010-2011 classes, complete and submit a registration form to the business office with the required annual registration fee of $25.00. The registration fee is waived for those choosing the full tuition payment option (see Tuition).

PLACEMENT. Students are generally grouped by age; however, students age 10 and older must attend a placement appointment to ensure enrollment in the appropriate level. Placement appointments may be arranged through the business office. The following schedule is recommended to promote steady growth and development:


    Foundations - one class weekly
    Primary - one class weekly
    Level 1 - one class weekly
    Level 2 - a minimum of two classes weekly
    Level 3 - a minimum of three classes weekly
    Level 4 - a minimum of four classes weekly
    Level 5 - a minimum of five classes weekly

ORIENTATION. Prior to attending classes, students and their families are encouraged to attend an orientation session to become familiar with the policies and procedures of Dance Theatre of Lynchburg.

STUDENT GUIDELINES. Each student and family should review the Student Guidelines at the time of registration. The Student Guidelines detail the policies and procedures -- such as attendance, holidays, dress code, conduct, classroom observation, performances and other critical school-related information.

TUITION. Tuition may be paid in full upon enrollment or in nine equal monthly installments, each due by the first of the month (September through May). For families choosing the monthly tuition installment option, monthly invoices will be sent to the address of record as a courtesy reminder. Payment schedule follows:


    1 class weekly $450 annual tuition OR 9 installments of $50/month
    2 classes weekly $720 annual tuition OR 9 installments of $80 / month
    3 classes weekly $990 annual tuition OR 9 installments of $110 / month
    4 classes weekly $1,260 annual tuition OR 9 installments of $140 / month
    5 classes weekly $1,530 annual tuition OR 9 installments of $170 / month
    6 classes weekly $1,800 annual tuition OR 9 installments of $200 / month

DISCOUNTS. The following tuition discounts apply:
A 50% discount is applied to boys' tuition.
A 10% discount is applied to siblings' tuition.
Each student may receive only one discount.

FINANCIAL AID. Reduced tuition rates - based upon area median income limits - may be available. Determinations are made based upon financial aid applications. Application forms are available from the business office.

SCHOLARSHIPS. Scholarships may be awarded based upon three co-existing conditions: financial need, artistic merit, and commitment; scholarships are initiated through the artistic staff.
